Clock 1:25

It was 1:25, and I was all alone.  Time.  To.  Myself.  The kids had gone to a neighbor’s house for a birthday party, and I was gifted with quiet.  I turned off the radio, finished up my mopping, and then picked up my Bible to sit down and read.  I savored it.

Most days, I don’t get a large segment of time all to myself.  But, I can still choose to use small moments to breathe and reflect.  Life happens so quickly these days, it can be hard to hear yourself think.   Those quiet moments do so much to refill me and realign my perspective.

‘Teach us to number our days aright,
that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

“She is clothed with strength and dignity.”
                                                                        Proverbs 31:25

As I was backing out of the driveway in the drizzly rain, something caught my attention.   A spider web, glistening with rain droplets, was nestled in the bush in front of our house.    In the midst of the dreary, unending rain, something beautiful had been created.

It took me by surprise.

There are those times in our lives when it seems as if the rainy season is lasting forever.   It seems as if the sun will never come out again.   What we often are unable to see is the thing of beauty that is being created in our lives as a result of the rain we are living in.

I never would have seen that little spider’s web had it not been for the rain droplets which illuminated it.

What things of beauty can you see in your life today that were the result of a long stretch in the rain?

“For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.  So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

II Corinthians 4:17-18
