Macro shots

push pins

I got a Pentax K-x for Christmas.  It’s going to take me a while to really learn how to use it.   I went back to the Canon PowerShot today to get this shot of a pile of  sewing pins.   The kit lens on the Pentax just doesn’t allow for it.

This is as close as I can get with the Pentax.  I still like the shot.  It’s just not as close as I sometimes like to get.

Bokeh

Bokeh

Darcy, at Life with My 3 Boybarians, teaches regular people like me how to use their cameras.  This week she taught us about ‘bokeh’.   My Canon Power Shot wouldn’t let me turn the aperture any lower than 2.8, so I had to find other ways of getting the light to blur.

This was a spindle from a beaded snowflake ornament with the tree lights in the background.

Here is a favorite nativity ornament:

I am enjoying the sights of the season right now.
We simplified our decorations, putting up only the tree, stockings and mantle wreath.  Christmas shopping is almost done and the pace is slower than normal.
Nice.
